Really a Rockstar...

I recently went for the movie ROCKSTAR with my friend. I was very sure this movie would be nice, reasons being:
1. Its a Imitiaz Ali movie
2. Awesome star cast- Ranbbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri(yes the new hottie in the town with whom Ranbir is going out now a days, but keep on declining it...as usual)
3. The story line- very offtrack..

I am very sure so many people might have thought what is so offtrack in the story line, same old love story. But dude..its not the same old love story...its a love story with a twist..and was I amazed, you have no clue.

The story is very nice and it keeps you binded throughout. The editing has been done amazingly. I mean starting from a fight scene to directly landing you up in midst of a sufi song going on in a dargah(Sufi shrine built over the grave of a revered religious figure, often a sufi saint).

The story is about a boy, Janardan Jhakar,  from Delhi who aspires to become a legend like his idol  Jim Morrison, and yes he also wants to show his middle finger  to everyone like his idol. So basically, for people who doesn't know who Jim Morrison is, he aspires to become a Rockstar...as the name of the movie suggests. He roams around with his guitar and keeps on singing" Jo bhi main kehna chahoon...oh yeah yeah!!!" to impress some music company so that he could get a chance to get some fame. But then he is suggested by his gyaan guru(the canteen owner) that until his heart his broken, he cannot write good songs with feelings. And for that he has to fall in love with someone and then left heart broken. So his search begins for the one reason because of which his heart could be broken. Now enters Heer- the actress, who is termed as the "Dil todne ki machine"(the heart break machine) by the college guys and taporis. He goes and propes her in front of her friend circle by saying "Girlfriend ban jao meri, rock karenge hum dono...only crazy for you baby!!"(If you become my girlfriend, we can rock together). First she hates him and scolds him infront of everyone and then he gets the cue and he also starts keeping away from her. But they click together by going for a Z-class movie"Jangli Jawani"  and drinking desi  together. So they become friends and do all kind of madness(they actually make a list of doing crazy stuff together, as Heer is getting married and she won't be able to live life like this after marriage). She baptizes Janardan as Jordan and he likes it. He goes to Kashmir with her for her wedding, where Heer realises that she is in love with him,but can not do anything about it. So she is off to Prague(called as Parag by Jordan).

Then comes a different phase of Jordan's life. After he is thrown out of his house for attending Heer's wedding, he starts staying at the dargah and then he makes it big. He is noticed by a famous shehnai wadak (played by Late Legendary Shammi Kapoor Ji) and then there's no looking back for Jordan. But then he realises that he is in love with Heer and when he gets the chance to go to Prague, he grabs the opportunity with both his hands. So then he is in Prague and then he meets Heer over there and then they are on a " gandh machane ki" spree. But then Jordan comes to know the fact that Heer is not well and she's got some blood problem(her body cannot make new blood cells easily) and she will die very soon. But Heer's husband doesn't like her meeting Jordan and he sends her back to India, back at her home. There Jordan takes care of her and when they go holidaying in Kashmir, she gets pregnant with Jordan's child, and she goes in coma and finally dies, and Jordan goes into a trance. Sad ending but worth watch.

The music of the movie has been composed by Legendary A. R Rahman( my all time favourite) and the lyrics by Irshad Kamil. Compilations of some great songs, the movie becomes more amazing. "Kun Faaya Kun"  is a sufi song with a soul in it, "Saada Haq" is the new anthem for youth now a days. "Katiya Karun", "Hawa Hawa"  and "Sheher Mein" add to the fun, whereas "Nadan Parindey" and " Aur Ho" are very intense songs.

So a total worth watch..the movie reaches out to all the age group of people. Kudos to Imtiaz Ali for another great movie, he lives up to the expectations of all his viewers. Loved it.... So people go out, watch the movie and do ting ling ling ling........:)
